Censorship – The Next Exciting Episode

This week, I am following up on last week’s post and asking for your support for my blog and my intention to do brain injury differently. My question is “Is bullying OK?”

So, had a very ordinary meeting last Tuesday, trying to convince people who had not bothered to read my blog, that the blog link remains on their website (that features a disclaimer) for the group I’ve volunteered for 10+ years.

A fellow-member and friend suggested if I wanted to have my blog appeal to more people, I should change it. To be blunt, I could write about brain injury but it’s not sexy and people don’t want to know anything about brain injury until it’s absolutely relevant to them.

I could write about risk-taking behaviour but you don’t have to drink, take drugs and try to drive a car and potentially kill people while you nearly kill yourself to get a brain injury. I’ve done none of those things and I have a brain injury.

I am probably only alive because I didn’t do drugs, I barely drank. I found alcohol used to make me feel like my head was swimming. Probably because alcohol thins your blood and my AVM once diagnosed was stated as being enormous. So, I suspect its why I was feeling unwell I just didn’t have an interest in doing something that made me feel so awful.

That I don’t ever mention companies or organisations good, bad or otherwise, should tell you I have some ethics.

That’s this NGO (Non-Government Organisation/Not for Profit) thinks to bully me to remaining quiet for the bullying they think to visit on its long standing members and that it’s acceptable. Other members have been destroyed by its poor behaviour and so, if you are still with me? You don’t have to love everything I write or stand for, but if you have any appreciation for what I stand for please Like, comment (positively please) and share through your networks.

My deadline to have support in my corner is 14th June, 2022.

Thanking you in advance and with much love and predication.

Wake Up Dead

Wake Up Dead

Is it just me or am I crazy? (don’t answer that!) I get that I have a lot of migraines. I get that I would rather sleep to fix my migraines than take pills. I’m not saying I’m completely against drugs. I’m just suggesting my first option is always sleep, chiropractor, sleep, then drugs.

However, when I go to bed at 7pm, it’s fucking serious. I don’t even think I want to go to bed that early as a baby. It’s even more serious if I send a message to family to ask them to check on me in the morning in case, I wake up dead.

This generally gets a thumbs up, just saying. Is it normal that family don’t think to follow up?

Anyone?

This happen to anyone else?

Confession

Confession

Confession

Now, this may come as a bit of a surprise and I realise I’ve yet to do the ‘everyday person’s’ explanation of the difference between TBI/ABI/MY ABI/AVM so presuming I can keep it short and sweet (when have I ever).

Difference

AVM

I’m lucky I’ve not had trauma to my brain, I’ve not been cut into (not my brain anyway). This has allowed me the ability to retain a great many things. Memories from before breakfast today, my greater independence financially and my ability to plan and execute. All to which helps me stay independently living by myself. Kapish (I think that is Italian for ‘understand’)

Kapish

However, I think all of the above might work against me sometimes, when dealing with (is there a polite word for this? Anyone?)

INCOMPETENCE

Incompetence

Sweet Jesus!

No really, this week I’ve been asked at a train station if I was staff, and a staff member in uniform had just been talking to me and then this incompetent woman came up to me claiming to be doing a ‘survey’. FARK

Incompetance

What? I’ve gotta do your job too now?

I didn’t get enough sleep last night and by the time I left my chiropractor, my left eye was hurting (that’s my version of a migraine these days, hurts like hell, but allows me to keep getting around to do all my “things”) WHERE ARE MY DRUGS? I left asking the receptionist who was on over the weekend. Most good chiro’s if they don’t fix the problem in that visit and you still have symptoms the following day, they will see you again ‘free of charge.’

Where are my drugs

I was told the two girls (who own the practice) are away for Easter. I enquired who was covering? The Associate? The Associate, is a lovely younger guy I can bond with over “The Walking Dead” and GOT (Game of Thrones) Her reply – “Oh, I don’t know, I haven’t asked him yet.

Do I have to do everything?

Do I have to do everything

Bogan

Bogan

Bogan

As promised some time ago on a Hot off the Press, from early June 2017, I mentioned the Bogan reference to an adventure to Moe, a town a few hours from Melbourne.

Adventures in Moe

The Bogan is a common term in Australia for a person who has not enough education and doesn’t see the point in getting any, they have no class or style.

Bogan Education

And I know I sound like a snob as I write this however, everyone has a little Bogan in them. Comedians make fun of them and when making a point with friends about how people have assumptions about me being a Bogan, I can deny it in a classy Bogan fashion.

Snob

“Come here and say that”

There are some suburbs where Bogan seems to be more obvious. Some areas, drugs make the Bogan more “enhanced” so that’s not a bonus.

Bogan 1Grammer

The speech is often less (again I hear my inner snob) intellectual. Fine! Careless. They are careless with using words. They are likely to be out and will see a friend and call out to them regardless of their environment, using swear words or inappropriate pet names to be called out in public or across the street.
