Happy hump day! It’s hot in Melbourne today! Have I ever mentioned how much I love hot weather? (Sarcasm) Yeah, that’s because I don’t! And I’m out in it……all day!
Even though my AVM (Artereovenous Malformation) has been fried with radiation so it’s not at risk of a bleed, a stroke or even blood flow but in hot weather my brain is not happy. My left side of my body works even worse than normal. So, my AFO and Shoe wears not quite right. My body compensates by just pushing through and smashing it out. I still have all the same deadlines. The same appointments to get to. At least once home I have air-conditioning and cold water in the fridge. Once home the cool change will throw my brain into a brain freeze. I predict a kip until my brain and body normalises. Welcome to my summer!
Meanwhile, luckily as I was here yesterday, much cooler. I had yummy sausage roll with relish and a side salad and medicine and macaron. Everything else had sold out!
Meanwhile, today’s lunch consisted of…….the brain grain salad. And medicine.
Glad I’m at home for the most part tomorrow for an even hotter day!
Meanwhile my Egg-Dealer is back from his holiday in Queensland! Putting in a huge order. Hoping the eggs don’t fry in my apartment or hatch! Got a mental image of little chicks chasing Mika! “Muma? Muma?” To cement the image, I’m ordering 140 eggs! Poor Mika!
Is it really only Hump Day? No, it’s gotta be Friday? I didn’t even have to do Person on Monday. However, it’s Tuesday evening as I tap out this post (I save this as a draft and add the important lunch details on Wednesday before I email it to Ms Noelle, my trusted administrator)
So, today I’m in Flemington at the Advisory group I’ve joined. It’s good to stretch my advocacy efforts. Also means I widen the networking. This meeting is only my second with them and it’s every 3 months.
So, lunch today is a little different, occasionally shit goes sideways and I’m a week early for a meeting and I’m left feeling like I got stood up for a second date!
So, medicine with white sugar! WTF people! Good coffee needs raw sugar.
A few weeks ago my Girl Friday and I made a batch of rum balls. A great Aussie classic from the CWA-Lady era. (Country Women’s Association) My food prep carer is much younger, often being mistaken as my daughter. I taught her the only way to measure the rum for the recipe. Follow the recipe, then Oops! My hand slipped and if you recall I’m not really a drinker. I’ve since given away more rum balls than I’ve actually eaten and I’ve got a 500mL bottle now to use, so more rum balls to make.
My recommendation is keep them small, about 2 bites each, best with coffee.
Also, an apology, I’ve had 400 emails I’ve just found in an inbox I didn’t know I had. I normally visit the blog of every new follower or at least any new Like I see and hit them with a Like or comment to let you know I’ve seen you. So, apologies, I’m catching up.
Was at my favourite cafe in Clifton Hill yesterday as I was in the hood seeing my GP.I had the bolognaise arancini with a side salad. Latte (My medicine!) with an escargot and more medicine!
I’m busy at a meeting today and have my lovely Girl-Friday doing some admin for me while I’m at it. Hump day is not close enough for me to the weekend. Seriously, are we there yet? Friday is going to be painful.
Nothing dramatic this week. Got a cold. Not happy Jan!
Usually my Wednesday is the only day that I can expect to run smoothly. If I see Young John it’s a big win! If not, it’s not a disaster I just jump on a tram but given even the smallest change I can get creative and adjust my plan of attack. After years of my standard lunch/punchy/stubby day things are soon about to be shaken up.
Guess, I’ll treat it like an opportunity to stretch my brain muscle. My brain already hurts just thinking about it, I guess it’s good I’ve got a few weeks to get ready and consider all my options. To be continued……….
Meanwhile, today’s lunch! Think I’m in my pizza faze. Don’t know what it’s called but it’s got a nice slice of buffalo mozzarella on top and medicine!
And because I got here early, I have my ‘own’ office.
Fingers crossed no one comes in with grizzly children or first world problems. Had to tune out a local woman discussing her renovation woes with her friends. She was discussing how she wanted to ‘borrow’ space from the laneway next to her house. Or maybe it was the ‘air’ above the laneway, I know! Can you feel my eye roll from there? Also, I think the photos on the wall is very much what would be at my Nona’s house if she were still here.
Haven’t left the house in 2 days and back at my favourite cafe! Was looking forward to a nice healthy salad, but alas by the time I got here they were sold out. But as you will notice consistency is the key. Pancetta quiche with side salad. With my standard medicine! And rather than try carrying it myself, I asked for a glass of water and this is what arrived. Feeling special!
Have a nice little migraine bubbling along behind my left eye since late yesterday so really looking forward to seeing my chiro today. She has been away the last two weeks so I saw a fill-in. Head, shoulders, knees and toes. Or realistically, head, neck(atlas) ribs, back, just everywhere. Ad nauseum!
Rather warm in Melbourne today! But hellonwheels will make it a breeze………..
Also, big shout out to my pen-pal friend from Texas! Phoebe! I received an amazing parcel from her yesterday. I sent her a late birthday gift last year and am about to post her my last Christmas parcel. Seriously, why should Christmas and birthday presents be on time and just once a year? Anyway, rambling. My left eye hurts.
So today, my mum is in town. She arrived late Monday night and no she wouldn’t agree to a photo opportunity.
We had matching meals. Something a bit different today………
A pancetta quiche with side salad.
And today’s medicine is accompanied with a chocolate mignon. Its complimentary.
For a little while now I’ve been meaning to do this post but it never seemed a healthy option for lunch. In fact, today’s post is from my visit to my fav cafe yesterday, Tuesday. My normal standard Punchy/stubby day was thrown out of whack with an extra appointment that threw a spanner in the works. Luckily, I could move things around. I am not big on moving things, while I cope it squeezes everything into my free-time.
So, Tuesday I had breakfast out. Not exactly the breakfast of champions however it’s ok, every now and again.
This one comes with a suggestion, never ever buy an almond croissant unless it looks something like this! Substitutes will not measure up!
They also do a chocolate croissant! I order it as such because when I attempt to say it’s correct name I mispronounce it and I make it sound like a French Nanny!
